Work continues on the development of the 10 new beautiful hotel bedrooms and we are nearing the end of this exciting project! The highlight of this work will be the addition of a luxurious Bridal Suite which will feature a four poster bed, a huge walk-in shower area plus a roll top bath and a very romantic decor throughout. The new rooms are scheduled to be open mid-March and we'll update you again in next month's Blog.
Once the rooms have been completed, further work will begin in the Clubhouse with new carpets being installed throughout the main corridor and men's changing rooms, and redecoration to give a fresh and smart new feel to these areas.
Outside the clubhouse, our Head Gardener John has been very busy tidying up, cutting and pruning in a number of areas including the entrance to Magnolia Park, the car park and the outdoor terrace overlooking the 18th green in readiness for Spring. He has also cleared the rockeries behind the putting green and cleared the halfway hut of vines and the garden areas around it.
All of this work had been done on top of his assistance to the green keepers with his tree surgery projects out on the golf course! Over the coming weeks he will be planting bulbs throughout the gardens plus the initial work to create a wonderful new wild flower area to further enhance the surrounds of the clubhouse and hotel.

The Turkey Trot!
On Sunday 7th January the re-arranged Turkey Trot took place and saw 46 golfers playing in what was a chilly but dry day. The event was sponsored by The Pointer at Brill and thanks go to ex-Captain Jock Wynd who organised the prize vouchers which amounted to £290.00. The winners on the day were Anne Cronin with 31 points taking the Ladies 1st Prize of a £20 voucher and Bob Darvill scoring 37 points to take the £50 voucher and the Mens win! Well done to all who took part and many thanks to The Pointer for sponsoring this event.

The World of Golf...
Media coverage in the world of professional golf has been focused on the return to the PGA Tour of Tiger Woods, and the continued return of Rory McIlroy.
Tiger started on the comeback trail in his first full field event at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego where he finished T23 on 3 under for a very respectable finish given this was only his second full event in two and a half years and first in one year! With the result he jumped 108 spots in the world ranking, from 647 to 539.
Meanwhile, on The European Tour, Rory was back in action and narrowly missed out by a shot on winning the Omega Dubai Desert Classic to China's Li Haotong. Despite his obvious frustration it was another good tournament for McIlroy following his elongated winter break to get over the rib injury that plagued his 2017 campaign.
Throughout 2018 we have some fantastic events lined up for Members and Non-Members to enjoy.
